Red Bull 400 Innsbruck: Where the Mountain Becomes the Challenge

The Red Bull 400 is no ordinary race: it’s a symbol of strength, an explosion of endurance and willpower that inspires. On 11 October 2025, participating athletes will take their place beneath the legendary Bergisel ski jump in Innsbruck, transformed for the occasion into a ramp to be climbed… running upwards. A 400-metre distance might sound manageable, but with an elevation gain of around 130 metres and gradients reaching up to 75%, every metre becomes a battle – against gravity and against oneself.

The Shortest and Toughest Summit Ever

From the landing area to the top of the take-off ramp, participants face a climb in reverse – an incline so steep that even the most seasoned athletes often have to cling on, slow down, and fight through burning lungs and legs. What appears to be a straightforward sprint is, in truth, a mental and physical ordeal of the toughest kind.

More Than a Race – A Symbol of Resilience

This is not just a competition. It’s a tribute to perseverance, to the ability to rise and push beyond one’s limits. Those who climb the Bergisel are not merely chasing a finish line – they are confronting a personal challenge. With passion and determination, they face the daunting slope. This event is an invitation to reassess what we think we’re capable of – and to discover that true strength often lies within.

Beyond the Summit

In a setting that demands athletes adapt their technique and pacing, turning every metre into a test of control and endurance, the Red Bull 400 has, over the years, become a landmark event for those seeking to take on a short but immensely intense challenge – one that puts even the most experienced runners to the test.
