infinity2: a school in space
From School to Space: CMP Supports the Educational Project Infinity2 in Iceland
We are thrilled to have supported the "Infinity2: A School in Space" project, a cutting-edge initiative promoted by the Enrico Medi Scientific High School in Montegiorgio, part of the Carlo Urbani School Hub in Fermo, Marche. This innovative aerospace experiment also captured the attention of the Ministry of Education and Merit. Between April 1st and 10th, 10 students and 3 teachers from the high school actively participated in the project, demonstrating that a passion for science can truly transcend all boundaries.
What is Infinity2?

Infinity2 is an experimental educational project aimed at exploring new scientific frontiers through the launch of three high-altitude balloons. These instruments, designed to collect crucial research data, represent the natural evolution of the success of "Infinity1", in which a mini-probe—entirely built by students—reached the stratosphere from Umbria to study greenhouse gases. This year’s edition is enhanced by the collaboration with prominent scientific and technological partners such as the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and Leonardo, underscoring the significance of the project.
CMP for Concrete Support
Driven by our passion for challenge and the exploration of new horizons, values that reflect our company's mission, we decided to support Infinity2 by providing technical apparel to all participants. "Our support for Infinity2 goes beyond the simple supply of technical clothing. We wanted to be an active part of a project that promotes educational success and innovation," stated Giorgia Sartori, sustainability manager at CMP. "We are proud to contribute to the training of the scientific minds of the future, because, in every field, it is people who make the difference, and our company firmly believes in this. Furthermore, we immediately recognized a synergy between the project and our communication, which aims to accompany people in their passions, whatever they may be."
Destination Iceland, Land of Pioneers
This year, Icelland was chosen as the detination for the Infinity2 mission. An even more ambitious project that will see 10 students and 3 teachers spend 10 days from April 1st to 10th, in the land of ice and fire. During this unforgettable experience of exploration and research, the three stratospheric balloons will be equipped with probes built by the students, each containing a different experiment.
The Infinity2 Project Probes: Ambitious Goals
- QI2-Enrico Medi This probe measured ozone, CO₂, and NOx levels up to 30,000 meters and captured stunning footage of the Northern Lights.
- I2-Ísland It carried two capsules with spirulina algae, exposed to UVB and UVC radiation to analyze DNA damage and repair mechanisms before and after launch.
- I2-Helianthus This experiment tested whether carbon dioxide could be transformed into oxygen through the interaction with cosmic rays, using CO₂-filled capsules.
