Canoe Sprint World Championship

July 9, 2023

In the spectacular setting of the UNESCO-listed Belluno Dolomites, Auronzo di Cadore will host the 2023 Junior and Under-23 Canoe & Kayak Sprint World Championships from 5th to 9th July.

Seventy national teams and 1,500 athletes, coaches, and officials will take part. Cadore returns to being a sports capital and a hub for community gathering—particularly for young people—after having hosted the 19th stage of the Giro d'Italia in May 2022.

At the foot of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, on Lake Santa Caterina, the competitions will take place over distances of 5000 metres, 1000 metres, 500 metres, and 200 metres.

The event, an official ICF (International Canoe Federation) competition in collaboration with FICK (Italian Canoe Kayak Federation) and CONI, will be broadcast on RAI SPORT and the ICF streaming platform.

The event will commence on 4th July at 6:00 pm with the World Championships opening ceremony, recognised among the 2023 Major Events by the Veneto Region—a source of great pride for the Organising Committee, made up of the Municipality of Auronzo di Cadore, the Venetian Canoe & Dragon Boat Association, and the partners who enthusiastically support the event.
